After the longhaul flight from Sydney we landed in Buenos Aires
Argentina tired but excited. We transited by bus to the domestic
airport on the other side of the city where we caught our flight south
to Ushuaia. One of the most worrying aspects of an expedition is
equipment not turning up but thankfully all our luggage arrived
(albeit some on the next flight which was only 20 minutes behind) and
we could breathe easy, knowing we had everything we needed to head
south to Antarctica. We met Cath and Darryl from Spirit of Sydney and
Bryce from Podorange at the airport. Bryce has another 2 crew on
Podorage so as a team we are now all together. Ushuaia is surrounded
by snowcapped mountains, a really spectacular place that already has
an Antarctic feel about it. A good nights sleep in a hotel had us
bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning and we have now loaded the
boats with our gear. The weather is pretty nasty at the moment but
clearing tomorrow with perfect conditions expected for our passage out
of Beagle Channel and south towards Cape Horn and beyond. Some last
minute shopping will fill the rest of our day, then a BBQ tonight
followed by a good nights sleep on the boats. Our next post should be
